Positive Shifts
Cork County Council's Circular Economy Fund making great progress

Cork County Council has awarded more than €52,000 to support local projects focused on reducing single-use plastics, from reusable cup schemes in the community and reusable meals-on-wheels container schemes to new water refill stations for sports grounds and schools.
Now in its second year, the Cork County Council Circular Economy Fund supports local communities to move away from the traditional ‘take-make-use-dispose’ model towards circularity. It promotes actions that reuse, recycle, and minimise waste, with a particular focus this year on reducing single-use plastics.
“It is very encouraging to see so many communities across the county taking meaningful steps to address single-use plastics and embrace circular economy principles,” said Mary Linehan Foley, Mayor of the County of Cork. “These communities are spearheading change, and each action, whether big or small, has the potential to make a lasting impact.”
